This (corundum) sapphire crystal weights 24.2 carats. I procured this sapphire in Shri Lanka through an old friend and gemstone cutter. A local who set up a meeting with the miner. Normally sapphires (corundum) crystals are found in ancient river gravels. The facets of the crystals are rounded, due to the bouncing arounds in rivers. This sapphire was mined at the source deposit. Thats why the crystal faces are so sharp.
